Preface
As a part of our extensive curriculum, we undertook our tannery training at JC International Pvt Limited, Kolkata to get a better understanding of the leather tanning procedures. The division specializes in the manufacturing of wet blue along with high quality leather for garment, footwear and accessories. This document is a detailed composition consisting of all the processes and finishes done at JC International Pvt Limited as per the guidelines provided by National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai. The training enhanced our knowledge regarding the working of the tannery and all its steps, functions and operations.Through this document, we learnt about the importance of teamwork and devotion towards one’s work.

About The Training
The productive journey of our training of ten days was very useful for us as we found the practical manufacture of leather was far beyond than the theoretical process which was taught during semester. Thereby, the training helped us on practical knowledge which depends upon the pH of each stage of processing as the pH required for each stage if doesn’t reaches the desired point then the process is repeated by adding on chemicals. As the leather industry is underdeveloped one in the country yet the product being the most expensive of all because of the long stage of processing that skins/hides undergoes to become leather.
As the manufacturing stage requires lot of labour and the chemicals are quite expensive which adds on to the cost of final product. The training program therefore, helped us not only selecting the correct article but gave us the hypothetical analysis of its cost which will be a lot of help when a designer wants to start its own entrepreneurship so on concluding we can estimate this training program to be a key factor shaping our career for future.
